Hello all, I wanted to take the time to give a very brief "State of the Union" as to where we are and where we are going and where we would like to be a year from now.
Important note, we are currently featuered on the UK's premeire RC site http://www.rcracer.com/ . We have quite a few more media outlets yet to carry the write up. So think about it, you are now international RC super stars!!! Rcracer has graciously given us direct linking capability to their expansive "how-to" section so keep an eye out for that in the near future.
Where we are:
We are currently a viable healthy business, with a resonably solid balance sheet. We have a tad bit of debt but we were responsible about it and the products are moving well. Our product line availability are deep but our actual inventory while good is still not where we would like it. We are in weekly talks to put what you as racers and hobbyists need in the shop. I'd really like to invite you all to submit your requests for inventory via the site or in person. Without this information we make decisions based on popularity at other sites, not the most effecient method but it's what we have. I'd invite you all to take a proactive role in helping us with this. If you find that we don't have something that you buy over and over, please let us know. Also please make us your FIRST stop when poking around we do try our best to meet or beat any price out there. One thing I would like to ask from you is that if we have a part for 3.99, and on the internet it's 3.50 buy it from us, that 50 cents is going towards the facilites you use. The other thing to keep in mind is the whole idea of "discounting" while you may feel like you are getting a deal becuse someone is giving you a 20% discount, look hard at what the starting price is, and look at our prices without any discounts, you'll find in most cases we are lower to start with even AFTER they've applied the disocunts. About the only place I can say that can beat us is Stormer, they move close to $400,000 in merchandise a month so they can offer things at a slightly lower cost than we can, we are normally equal or close to Ampdraw and we have A-main beat by a looooong shot. Help us hit those volume numbers and I give you my promise we will reduce our prices as our volume discounts get better! We are also adding brands almost weekly so if you want it odds are we can get it (if it's in stock at the distributor or manufacturer).
Our store hours fluctuate a little, as you all know Darryll, Nate and I have other jobs and we REALLY appreciate your patience with us when it comes to store hours. We understand that sometimes it can be frustrating when you can see the part you need throught the front door, but it's dark and locked! We are working on it trust me on that!
Our facilities have come along and we have new indoor tubing and more than 50 tons of dirt outside for the off road track. We have solid plans on the outdoor facilities and we are moving forward.
Food seems to be popular at our track but we are having an issue with how much we can offer for the 5$ and not have it be a liability to the shop and track funds. We will never stop having food, we will just have to find a more economical/fair way of doing it.

Our turnout is realtively consistent but sometimes a little unpredictable. We are implementing some technology to help with that. It seems that what is happeneing is one person says they are going to another track or event, and the word spreads and folks think no one is going to be at the bowl for that weekend so they don't come out, leaving the folsk that do come out with no one to race against. It's strange how it all happens (at least strange to me) but I'd invite you all to use the forums, the calendar, now facebook and twitter (thanks Ray!!) or simply call us, to find out what is going on for the weekend. We have implemented a ton of technology to help you all stay in contact with each other easily and conviniently so please make use of them. While our business is strong we currently can't survive with 2 closed weekends a month. We are working on building out our online presense to help with that (more below) but we aren't there yet.
Our airplane guys are coming out regularly on Firdays, THANK YOU!! they are having a great time and I have to be honest, not being exposed to the airplane stuff I'm finding it very interesting, especially those little MCx heli's. I'd invite you all to try and make one of the fly days on Friday to check that out.Our inventory for Heli, and Airplanes is terrible, and we are really doing our best to focus on one area at a time, not making excuses but with the amount of money involved with today's models it's hard to do everythign at once. Heli and Airplane guys your time is coming and coming soon! Nate is working hard at building that area of the business and he is doing a great job of it!
Our Mini-Z stuff is non-existent as well. We are working on that but looks like we will have to push that until this cmoing winter season. Ed adn others have been very supportive but given funds availability adn market we will have to wait a little before tackling this one. Ed will most likely be doing some exhibition races through out the year to get people exposed to Mini-z but for now we have nothing but special order availability.
Batteries, this is a big one. I've been working hard to bring you all low cost lipos and other chemistry batteries, but at the current time we still don't have any. Trust me it's not for lack of trying. This industry is getting cut throat, and big brands like SMC amongst others are having quality control issues the last place i want to be is behind someone smoking their model due to a bad battery. I will continue to work on getting low cost high quality batteries in stock. Looks like Venom and Racer's edge are stepping up, I'll have to demo some of the venom stuff because they have traditionaly not been so good. The Zippy's look good but even THEY can't ship from their US warehouse without upping their prices by close to 10 dollars a pack and shipping from china is $$$$. So we will see. I'm in talks with Tenergy here in the states too to do something with us.
Where we are going:
Out doors! We will have a dirt oval and a short course track with a Baja track following shortly. We will NOT being running serious onroad program this year. We will be doing Cup racers outside and if you want to you can run whaever you want on the paved track outside. We will be running our onroad program merged with the Blue Diamond, located about 15- 20 miles from the bowl. We are working on a racer exchange program amongst other things.
We will be keeping the carpet track open all year. We will have Blue Diamond raindays at the 'Bowl so keep that in mind when there are rainouts.
We will be getting all the inventory online so you can buy online and pickup in the store. This is going to be a long process we have quite a few things to get online so bear with us!
We will be shipping out to you within a day or so of you ordering, so if it's in stock we will be shipping via UPS to get it to you the next day.
We are building our brand depth out at a furious pace, we will be doing special orders for the most part but with your help would like to stock the wearoutables, like tires, belts pistons sleeves motors bearings things of that nature.
We are also looking to bring you a race lay away program. Meaning you will have the ability to put money onto a card and use it to pay to go to a big race as a group, making it easier to go to Florida for the Winternats or Ohio for the GLC, or Las Vegas for the IIC. It is coming very soon, but think of it as a race saving program. More to come our first big race: A gas race in Puerto Rico in December :) you read right! We are setting up the details now, so keep an eye peeled for more info.
Folks I cannot convey how happy it made all of us to see the 'Bowl bustling with people, this weekend, people crowded onto the grand stands, parents with their kids and the kids having a good time and big kids having a good time. We've been here for Three months and in those three months we have definately made an impact on our local community. Help us by spreading the word, bring a friend, or post online on rctech and hobby talk point folsk back here to our website.
Thanks again,
Tory, Darryll and Nate.
