Hey all!!I know we talked about this before and I don,t want to open a another can of worms!! Can we come up with a concrete starting time and between round times. I noticed that Bryan(I think that is his name)left after 2nd round,he was there a long time and trying to keep his young son occupied is very difficult! if there was a concrete schedule every one can adjust to it and plan the day!! start at the same time and same time between rounds we can click off 3 qualifying rounds and a main, then we can play around and maybe have another main and the racers that have a time limit can leave and still get there moneys worth!! just an idea we should consider. It's normally 5 minutes, but with the heat and folks asking for time it stretched out. Also we normally start at 3pm, very few racers were there at 3pm.
We are normally done racing around 7 or 8pm. This was a rarity that it went so long and it was really due to the heat.

I only got in 2 heats but it was a blast that was some really good racing. I have not done that in so long and it was just as fun as I remember. I figured the heat might post pone things before I left the house but wasn't sure if it would or not. It takes me about 30-40 minutes to get there I am coming from Jersey. But it wasnt a huge deal I got some good practice in and I could get the feel of the truck on a track. Good times.

I've always complained about down time when racing... especially when things are dragging out. The issue that I saw when I was there a week before last was that there were only 3 heats which would mean there was a total of 15 minutes of racing and maybe 15 minutes of down time. This is 30 minutes.
Charging a battery at 1C takes 60 minutes, so if a racer only has 1 battery, then there is a down time of at least another 30 minutes between rounds. When I was running the races, I received multiple requests to delay rounds because of this issue.
So, here are my suggestions and questions to ask yourself before answering:
1) Speed up time between rounds. This requires a racer to have at least 2 healthy packs, which may not be possible for all racers.
2) Extend the run time of each heat. This would require all racers to be able to make a full 8 or maybe 10 minutes. Can everyone do this? Do you want to run oval for 8 minutes at a time?
3) Limit the number of racers to 5 per heat instead of the 8 that is setup now. This would possibly add 1 or 2 heats for each round.
Of course, there is a possibility to merge a couple of the ideas (e.g. 8 minute heats and 5 max per round). The racers need to decide how they want to handle that, so I say during a driver's meeting this Saturday this is discussed.
Other issues that I saw that were not the race director's fault, but the racers' fault:
1) Waiting until the last minute to signup. Racing starts at 3PM, you should signup by 2:30PM -or- better yet, sign up when you arrive at the track. If you end up not racing, don't worry, we're not going to keep your money.
2) When the race ends, promptly exit the driver's stand and get to your marshaling position. Continuing to run on the track delays the start of the next race. This will speed up the delay between rounds.
3) When your race is called, be ready to run. Multiple times the week before last we had to wait 4-5 additional minutes because only 1 or 2 people were on the driver's stand. Eventually everyone showed up, but you should know when your race is and be ready.
Couple other items:
1) Encourage other racers to sign up as soon as possible.
2) If you think things are running too slow, or even too fast, speak up! No one's going to yell at you!

...Taking a page out of Family's book wouldn't hurt here. On race day, simply make it a rule that everyone registers before they are allowed on the track. Once you've registered you have track clearance. This way registration is cleared and out of the way for easy starts come race time.
